About
Born in Tokyo and currently based in the ancient capital of Kyoto, Hamazumi is a researcher and designer dedicated to the aesthetics of Japan’s imperial court.
Drawing from a professional background as an art dealer, he combines deep knowledge of Japanese art history, culture, and aesthetics with hands-on experience working with museums, curators, and art critics.
In Kyoto, Hamazumi mainly works on Japanese gardens for high–net worth individuals, and approaches each Japanese garden not as stylistic imitations but as living expressions of Japanese ideology and thought. He ensures that every project he engages with is rooted in authentic philosophical principles—ensuring that each garden not only "looks" Japanese but "is" Japanese at its core.
Beyond his work with gardens, Hamazumi is committed to carrying forward the traditions of Japanese culture. As a practitioner of sadō (the Japanese tea ceremony), he brings its sensibilities of harmony, respect, and tranquility into every aspect of his work.
Having lived in the United States and the Middle East during his student years, he speaks native-level English. Looking ahead, Hamazumi aspires to design authentic Japanese gardens around the world, bringing the aesthetics of Japan’s imperial court worldwide.
